THE Rivers State Government said that it had resolved to investigate the financial activities and alleged employment racketeering in the State Local Government Service Commission under Sir Ngo Martin Yellowe.
The state government’s decision was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Opunabo Inko-Tariah.
Also to be investigated, according to the statement, issued in Port Harcourt, is the alleged employment racketeering in the State Independent Electoral Commission under Professor Augustine Ahiazu.
It added that members of the two dissolved commissions would, through the probe, explain how the sum of N2bn disbursed by the immediate past administration was spent.
The statement also added that it was necessary for RSIEC to explain how funds disbursed to it, ostensibly for the conduct of the recent local government election in the state, was expended.
“Members of the dissolved commissions must explain how the sum of N2bn paid to them by Rotimi Amaechi’s government was spent.
“This excludes the other payments made to Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission that must be accounted for,” the statement read.
